About MeI graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in Mathematics and a minor in English as an International Language. I joined the Chicago Teaching Fellowship and received a master degree from National-Louis University. I began teaching at Clemente High School and then taught at Bogan Computer Technical High School, the first 1:1 Chromebook high school in Chicago Public Schools, for the last ten years. I was the Mathematics Department Chair, 11th Grade Level Lead and a member of the Instructional Leadership Team. I am excited to start my third year teaching at Amundsen High School. I am a proud member of the MSU-Wipro STEM and Leadership Fellowship Cohort 2.
I am interested in learning more about growth mindset and problem based learning. I am Google Certified Educator Level 2. I was a member of the Apple cohort and have a Promethean board classroom. I am also a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). My husband Jeff Frcka (@coachfrcka) is a Physical Education teacher at Mather High School. Our first child, Josephine Elizabeth, arrived in December of 2013 and our newest addition, George Thomas, arrived April of 2016. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening and cooking/baking. |
